Participants learn to understand the connection between negative news/information and the resulting view of the world. During the two consecutive workshop days, they learn through various exercises to question their media consumption and the resulting impact and to adapt it if necessary.
They also train to constructively analyze and solve problems beyond the news. To this end, they work on specific constructive solutions based on a personal question, in group and individual work and with several feedback loops. Finally, they present the respective case studies.
In addition, they learn to acquire a constructive view of the future – their own and that of our society – through various exercises.
Workload for ECTS:
2 ECTS: As preparatory work: Describe briefly (approx. half a Din-A-4 page) a problem that currently keeps bothering you. The problem can be of a private, professional or social nature. It is not about finding a “morally high quality” problem. It is really about describing what is currently bothering you the most. Before writing, take a moment to reflect and try to describe the problem as concretely as possible. After the seminar, summarize your results in a written reflection report or expand on them if necessary. As a follow-up, the participants analyze their media consumption based on a specific question and summarize the results in writing.
Lecturer:
Bestselling author Ronja von Wurmb-Seibel knows from her work as a journalist how powerful news can be. She lived in Kabul for almost two years as a reporter. There, surrounded by bad news, she learned how to tell stories in a way that encourages people.
