Text-generating AI is now used in all areas of society. However, universities are lagging behind this development. There is still uncertainty as to whether text-generating AI can be used for writing at university – and if so, for which specific scenarios. In view of the high energy consumption and other ethical aspects, the question also arises as to whether and to what extent the use of text-generating AI is justifiable.
In this workshop, we would like to use good scientific prompting to focus on the performance of text-generating AI for scientific writing: What writing tasks is AI suitable for? What needs to be considered when using it? And which usage strategies lead to success? We also want to clarify where the limitations of AI-based writing lie, which pitfalls need to be considered and which tasks should definitely not be solved with text-generating AI.
In addition to input lectures on the questions listed here, the workshop will also include practical writing exercises that train the responsible use of text-generating AI.
