The aim of this course is to provide a basic understanding of artificial intelligence and its methodological foundations. In addition, the potential opportunities in society, research and the economy will be demonstrated using concrete examples. The potentials and methodological, technical, societal and ethical challenges will be critically examined from different perspectives. The concrete use of these technologies will be demonstrated with practical examples and worked out together. The course assumes no prior knowledge in the field of machine learning or artificial intelligence and no programming skills.

In the last part of the course, students have in attendance the opportunity to develop ideas for possible research or practical projects in the subject area of artificial intelligence individually or in groups with the help of the “Design Thinking” method.
