This interdisciplinary online course is aimed at students of all semesters.
Outsiders trust scientists to conduct, publish, and pass on their research following the rules. This already applies to students, too, as soon as they start performing research. In the course of their studies, definitely when writing their thesis, students are increasingly expected to know and adhere to the guidelines of good scientific practice.
In this online course, you will learn these guidelines and find out their relevance in your studies. Using case examples, possible pitfalls are presented that can occur when exercising research (e.g. during internships, courses, and theses). The goal is to reduce fears of accidentally breaking the rules and to showcase how to conduct research candidly. The course therefore lays the foundation for rule-conforming, independent research in your studies.
Some topics of the online course are: Rules and standards of scientific work / Scientific misconduct / Steps and stages of the research process / Documentation and archiving of research data / How to handle sources and avoid plagiarism
