Even experienced scientists are familiar with the often-described “fear of the blank page”. If the pages simply won’t fill, even though ideas or even results are already available, writers have a real problem. In the workshop offered, students learn how to deal with such situations. Participants reflect on their own working methods and learn strategies to get writing. In addition to possible causes of writing problems and other disruptive phenomena when writing an academic paper, the workshop deals with creative methods for self-help and focuses on the individual goals of the participants. Additional tips on the structure and formulation of academic papers round off the program.

The workshop starts with a four-hour classroom session and includes additional online components that can be completed flexibly after the classroom session.

Lecturer:

Cristina Blanck is a Germanist and writing didactician. She was a research assistant at the Writing Lab of the House of Competence from 2016 to 2023. There she taught and researched in particular on the topics of academic language and STEM subject writing didactics. She has been working as a research officer at TH Köln since the end of 2023
