Centeredness, straightening, contact to one’s self without losing sight of the target. These abilities are important throughout many situations in life. In your studies, they help coping with exam situations or making big decisions. Intuitive archery is a way of exercising exactly this and experience it firsthand.

In intuitive archery, both eyes are on the target and we are open to further perceptions. By continuously comparing what we are aiming for and what we reach, we gain an altered physical and mental attitude. Connecting a state of mindful perception with the right movements and intuitively letting go of the arrow is the key.

We use a draw shoulder shooting technique we learned from Zen archers and combine it with principles of Taijiquan and elements of mindfulness to teach a form of archery that has been in use for over ten years.

We shoot recurve take-down (detachable limbs) bows and carbon arrows. All material including protective gear is provided. The use of the equipment requires a flat rate of EUR 5.

The goals of the workshop are:

  • Improving your perception
  • Improving your awareness in target definition processes: Experiencing centeredness and straightening when aiming (connecting and aligning to the target) without losing your inner center
  • Reactivating your gut feeling (intuition)
  • Training your ability to concentrate
  • Learning the basics of archery (safety, materials, (draw shoulder) shooting technique)

Please note: The number of participants is limited to 12 due to the number of bows available.

Work Expenditure:

1 ECTS: Active participation in the workshop as well as additional tasks like:

  • Preparation and postprocessing (in the form of individual reading of recommended literature on the topic)
  • Completion of the transfer exercises recommended in the workshop
  • Written reflective report or equivalent
  • E-learning modules
