On the home straight at university, but what now? How do you make sure you find a job that really suits you? And who can support you?

The science of positive psychology can provide answers. In this 3-day workshop, we identify individual strengths and reflect together on how we can use them in the career entry phase. In examining our own needs, we not only ask about job fit in terms of content, but also about the right corporate culture and what gives us intrinsic motivation and stamina. Former students, who are part of the workshop and share their experiences with us, are one step ahead of us. We exchange ideas and look together at relationships and networks and how these can support us.

The seminar is designed to be interactive and offers a mixture of scientific impulses and practical methods to try out and take home.

The framework is provided by a mentoring program (Alumni4Students) Exchange and networking between alumni and students, also beyond the workshop, are core elements of the event.

Contents:

  • What is happiness? Seen individually & from a scientific perspective
  • Strengths: what makes us special & how can we communicate our strengths
  • Needs and values: what do we need for a fulfilling professional life
  • Positive relationships: how networks support us and others
  • Tool kit for right away and at home: exercises for more resilience, orientation and optimism

The seminar is being held in cooperation with the German Society for Positive Psychology (DGPP). All participants will receive a certificate of participation from the DGPP.

Workload for ECTS:
2 ECTS: For participation in the three seminar days, mentoring discussion with brief feedback and participation in the accompanying scientific research.

Lecturer:
Mailin Modrack (M.A. Positive Psychology) works for the German Society for Positive Psychology (DGPP) in Berlin. She is particularly interested in the question of how well-being and satisfaction can be achieved not only for individuals, but also on a collective level. Her curiosity and “can-do” attitude encourage her time and again to believe that real social change is possible.

Laura Höer (M.Sc. Psychology) is a trainer for positive psychology (DGPP) and is currently working with Empowerland to present the findings of positive psychology to children, parents and educators. She is passionate about the question of how we can use the findings of positive psychology to support young people in taking control of their own happiness right from the start.
