The online course is interdisciplinary and is aimed at students of all semesters.
Outsiders trust that academics conduct, publish and disseminate their research according to all the rules of the art. These standards already apply to students as soon as they produce their first research work. In the course of their studies – at the latest when writing their thesis – students are increasingly expected to know and adhere to the recommendations for good scientific practice.
In this online course, you will get to know these recommendations and learn about the relevance of the rules of good scientific practice in academic studies. Case studies will be used to illustrate possible pitfalls that can occur when practicing research during your studies (e.g. in internships, courses or theses). The aim is to reduce the fear of unintentionally breaking the rules and to illustrate how research is carried out honestly. The online course thus lays the foundation for compliant, responsible behavior during your studies.
Topics of the online course include Rules and standards of scientific work / Scientific misconduct / Phases and work steps in the research process / Documentation and archiving of research data / Dealing with sources and avoiding plagiarism.
