If you would like to take part in the Entrepreneurship lecture, please register in ILIAS. Since the lecture will take place partly digitally and partly in person, this is mandatory for participation. Registration in ILIAS is not a binding exam registration; this will be done separately in the CAS at a later date. All further information will be published in ILIAS.
The lecture, held in English, introduces the basic concepts of entrepreneurship. Important concepts and empirical facts relating to the conception and implementation of newly founded companies are presented.
The focus is on the introduction to methods for generating innovative business ideas, translating patents into business concepts and general principles of business modeling and business planning. In particular, approaches such as Lean-Startup and Effectuation as well as concepts for financing young companies are dealt with.
Part of the lecture is a “KIT Entrepreneurship Talk”, in which experienced founders and entrepreneurs report on their experiences in the practice of founding a company.

Learning objectives:
Students are introduced to the topic of entrepreneurship. After successfully completing the course, they should have an overview of the sub-areas of entrepreneurship and be able to understand basic concepts of entrepreneurship and apply key concepts.
Workload for ECTS:
3 ECTS: Written exam
Total workload approx. 90 hours (attendance time: 30 hours, preparation and follow-up of the course: 45 hours, exam and exam preparation: 15 hours)
You must register for the exam in person at the EnTechnon office within the registration deadline (announced by EnTechnon), presenting a current certificate of enrolment, identity card and student ID. No further certificate from the Student Service or HOC is required. Please note the opening hours of the secretary’s office.
Important: No WIWIs are admitted to this SQ seminar, as it is part of your curriculum.
Students from other faculties who wish to participate in the lecture “Entrepreneurship” in order to receive 3 ECTS must take the exam.
Lecturer:
Assany Michiko Dang is a research associate and PhD student at the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Technology Management and Innovation (EnTechnon) at KIT. Her research focuses on artificial intelligence and its application in the context of start-ups. In particular, she investigates how entrepreneurs can be supported in an uncertain and complex environment. She focuses on the topics of human-AI interactions and decision making processes in the early-stage phase of a start-up as well as the impact of artificial intelligence on a start-up.
Furthermore, she supports Prof. Orestis Terzidis in teaching, especially in the Entrepreneurship lecture, research seminar and the foreign recognitions.
Orestis Terzidis heads the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Technology Management and Innovation (EnTechnon) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). After completing his doctorate in physics, he worked at SAP from 1998-2011, initially as an application developer and later as assistant to CEO Henning Kagermann and director of the SAP Research Center in Karlsruhe. In October 2011, he joined KIT as a full professor.
