Are you in a higher semester or are you about to write your thesis and would like to know how to proceed when writing your thesis? In this course, you will learn which rules you need to follow and which criteria your texts should fulfill.
We will also consider how you can use AI appropriately and responsibly as an additional tool in your academic work. However, the aim of the seminar remains to teach you how to write a scientific paper independently.
We will go through all the relevant steps that you go through when writing your scientific (final) paper: You will learn how to narrow down your topic, formulate your research question and deal with scientific literature. We will also discuss how to structure your thesis and develop a common thread. In addition, we will practice how to present your results precisely, how to argue coherently and how to present them skillfully. Last but not least, we will focus on the formal standards of a scientific paper – from the correct citation of literature to the integration of illustrations in your text and the creation of a bibliography.
In the seminar, you will have the opportunity to try out and discuss the jointly developed procedures in individual, partner and group exercises. Parallel to the online sessions, an online course will be created via ILIAS in which you will find various materials and writing exercises that we will refer to in the seminar and on whose solutions you will receive feedback. Your central task will be to write an exposé in the course of the semester, which we will prepare step by step in the seminar. You will receive an e-mail a few days before the start of the course with the most important information about the organization of this course.
