From an early age, we learn in our society that achievement holds a special value. Those who achieve a lot or have achieved much receive recognition, with the consequence that many people strongly define their own worth and the worth of others through performance. Through this entanglement, pronounced external and internal demands can arise, leading to a culture where there is no room for mistakes. If the pressure becomes too high and the fear of mistakes too strong, this can impair our ability to cope with everyday life and may lead us to block ourselves in terms of our performance and development. In the seminar, students learn psychoeducational models and techniques of emotion regulation. They apply these to their own experiences in their studies to gain better control over excessive performance demands and perfectionism.
