How do I start a thesis? What are the techniques to avoid writer’s blocks? In this course, you learn how to develop text structures creatively and playfully and get to know techniques to simplify your writing process. Additionally, you will find out how good time management supports your academic writing process and impacts your work life by increasing your writing competences. Exercising all of this will make you more efficient and independent and avoid any possible writer’s blocks.

Prerequisites:
This seminar is open to students of all subjects and semesters.

Learning Objectives:

  1. You learn to write structured texts that are easy to understand for you and the target person.
  2. You discover and strengthen your own work methods.
  3. You can place this process in a time schedule.

Workload:
2 ECTS: Submission of 4 writing exercises
3 ECTS: Submission of 6 writing exercises

Lecturer:
Mayra Scheffel is a linguist and philosopher. She looks back on years of experience as an editor, copywriter, and translator. Since 2013, she has been teaching strategies for structured writing and successful time management at the House of Competence (KIT) Writing Lab. Her courses are based on brain-friendly presentation and anchoring of learning content.
