Overview/goals:

In order to achieve clarity for the listener, the speaker always needs clarity of thought and language. Thoughts can be developed and expressed more clearly by working with thought arcs/hierarchies, for example. But also the design of phrasing helps to eliminate unnecessary hesitation phenomena (“um’s”) for a concise and effective expression.

 

Contents:

  • Arcs and hierarchies of thought
  • Word and sentence accents (shaping meaning)
  • Speech-thinking processes
  • Target sentence principle
  • Avoiding filler words or hesitation sounds (“um”)
  • Phrasing/pause design
  • Strategy against blackouts for more clarity
  • Concise language
  • get to the point

  • Individual performance
  • group work
  • theoretical input
  • practical exercises
  • Further development of a mini speech brought along

 

Prerequisite for participation:

Be open to moving out of your comfort zone with different speaking exercises.

 

Workload for ECTS:

1 ECTS: active participation + prepared mini speech (30-60s), which will be recorded again after the seminar with all improvements

 

Lecturer:

Fabian Eckenfels is a graduate speech scientist and works in scientific research and doctoral studies on speech/voice, in business and as a yoga/fitness trainer. He is also a trainer for speech/voice/singing/body/text at various (state) theaters
