Presenting science in an understandable way – this requires clear messages, appropriate visualizations and comprehensible language. To reach the audience, body language, gestures, facial expressions and intonation are just as important. In this course, you will learn what is important in communication, which is the basis of an understandable and exciting presentation. In the workshop, you can test what you have learned with your own short presentation and receive personalized feedback. You will also learn from the examples of others what goes down well and what to avoid.

Workload for ECTS:

Active participation in a 2-hour workshop with preparation and follow-up:

  • Preparation: e-learning course Presenting (5h)
  • In the course: Implementation of what has been learned in exercises
  • Follow-up: Preparation of a presentation on the topic of your choice according to predefined criteria

Active participation in a full-day workshop:

  • Application of the previously learned and developed methods and learnings
  • Carrying out the transfer tasks recommended in the workshop
  • Presentation of own work + feedback
  • Assessment of other participants’ work according to defined criteria

Lecturer:

Dr. Ulrike Brandt-Bohne, who holds a doctorate in biology, has experience in communicating science and research as a presenter and author for various TV knowledge formats and platforms, moderates events and is active as a keynote speaker. As a lecturer at NaWik, she shows students and researchers in workshops what is important in communication.
