What makes you “special” in the best sense of the word? What characteristics and qualities can we use to discover ourselves as people? And how can we use these strengths to stay healthy and contribute to society, even in challenging times?

As the “science of a successful life”, positive psychology looks less at “what strengths” and more at enduring qualities in people. In this one-day seminar, you will learn about the research and theory of character strengths. In practical exercises and in close exchange with other participants, we will identify individual strengths and ideas for incorporating them into work and everyday life.

Contents:

  • Introduction to positive psychology and the importance of character strengths
  • Identification of individual strengths using recognized test procedures
  • Development of strategies to utilize and promote personal strengths

Workload for ECTS:

1 ECTS: active participation in the workshop as well as a preparation task and transfer task with written reflection

Lecturer:

Mailin Modrack (M.A. Positive Psychology) works for the German Society for Positive Psychology (DGPP) in Berlin. She heads the Master’s program in Positive Psychology and Coaching at the German University of Applied Sciences for Health and Sport and works as a trainer for Positive Psychology. She is particularly interested in the question of how well-being and satisfaction can be achieved not only for individuals, but also on a collective level. Her curiosity and “can-do” attitude encourage her time and again to believe that real social change is possible.
