Our democracy thrives on freedom of opinion and pluralism. These values, which are guaranteed in the Basic Law, must be preserved and protected. But where does freedom of opinion end and where do extreme positions attack the foundations of our democracy? How do we recognize politically and religiously motivated extremism and what promotes its emergence? The earlier we recognize signs of anti-democratic developments, the sooner we can react and take countermeasures. Are there even structural causes for extremist tendencies? And what can effective prevention work look like?
The four-week e-learning course comprises 4 modules that have to be activated and completed on a weekly basis. The format is supplemented by a virtual kick-off event and a final meeting. The course offers opportunities for exchange and advice.
Workload for ECTS:
1 ECTS: Each week, a content module is released for which a task is set. The results are discussed in forums. The weekly tasks 1-3 must be completed.
2 ECTS: All 4 weekly tasks must be completed (including the written documentation of the transfer task of approx. 2 pages).
