This course is an introduction to the main points of the eight-week training programme “Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction”. This was developed by the physician and molecular biologist Prof. Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. The training programme teaches skills for dealing with stress and other difficult situations and serves to shape life more consciously and prevent burnout. The ability to concentrate and creativity can also increase. MBSR is ideologically neutral and scientifically tested for effectiveness.
The course elements include sitting and walking meditation, yoga, body awareness (“bodyscan”), sharing experiences in the group, and mindfulness exercises for everyday life. This experiential learning is the focus of the course. In addition, basic knowledge about stress mechanisms is taught.
The course includes a full-day mindfulness day, which we spend mainly in silence.
Workload for ECTS:
2 ECTS: Regular and active course participation, writing a short reflection report.
